About me

Gbaraspoken Emcee is an award-winning performing and recording artiste, Indigenous Emcee, Rapper, African storyteller, and record producer who hails from the West Nile region of Uganda.

Born Milton Maopini McPeter in 1992, Gbaraspoken Emcee caught the attention and took by storm the Uganda Hip Hop Industry in 2015 when the boy who was known by his fans as Jigah, Hush Jean and finally Jigah Trickz dropped his first hit single ‘Aparaka Yo’ in the same year.

He started gaining recognition at St. Charles Lwanga College Koboko as a morale booster while at ordinary level. In 2006, Gbaraspoken Emcee, Loveson Controlla and Masta Moon founded Junior Kings, a dance group in Koboko district and soon were performing on big shows as the boys were learning and transforming their talents and skills.

In 2007, he jumped to studio and recorded his first song, ‘Mali’ featuring Masta Moon at Audio Waves Arua under Producer Ronny and soon added another one ‘Blaze On’ featuring Loveson Controlla and Masta Moon while in Koboko with Producer steward at Spirit FM based studio that belonged to the producer while at high school at St. Charles Lwanga College Koboko up to 2008. He studied English Language and Literature at Kyambogo University and graduated in 2012.

The years 2009 to 2010 introduced him to Bayimba Cultural Foundation, a Uganda based organization that traversed the country to look for new rappers. He then met Ugandan Hip Hop Icons like Silvester Kabombo, GNL, Navio, Titan Mukasa, Lady Slyke, Dj Ivo, QReas IB, Babaluku among others who all helped shape his career.

Gbaraspoken Emcee caught the attention of the Bayimba mentors and trainers because of his vibrancy and the zeal to put his own skills and knowledge to continue empowering and building fellow young people, individually, friends and in partnership with different entities and organizations as he continued to cultivate creative seeds among young people when he worked in the Karamoja region as a young corporate between 2011 and 2014.

He also took part in more training and mentorship programs under the ‘Youth and Hip Hop project’ of Bayimba Cultural Foundation and benefitted from many capacity development programs that would see him as a Lugbarati Rapper at a national contest for young Ugandan rappers. He made it to the final list of the twelve young Ugandan rappers selected to be part of a new comprehensive Hip Hop Bootcamp by Bayimba Cultural Foundation in Gulu in 2014.

Gbaraspoken Emcee has since been on the spotlight, raising the Arua City, West Nile and Northern Uganda Hip Hop and Rap flag high in the country ever since his breakthrough.

He was voted as West Nile Hip Hop Artist of the year in 2016 at the West Nile Entertainment Awards, nominated for Northern Artist of the year at The Uganda Music Awards 2017, crowned Northern Uganda Rapper of the Year at Northern Uganda Entertainment Awards in 2017 added to a four times consecutive nomination as Northern Uganda Rapper of the year at the MTN Uganda Hip Hop Awards of 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020.

With a unique blend of Indigenous rap in his mother tongue Lugbarati and other languages, Gbaraspoken Emcee aims at using his music for uplifting communities through community empowerment programs, humanitarian cause, livelihood and voluntary work.

Since his breakthrough in 2015, he has outed four major music albums ‘APARAKA YO’ album 2015, ‘OYOKOLO (WHISPERS) Mixtape 2016, ‘SIX TEARS’ ALBUM 2017 and KONGOLO Collaborative Album with Loveson Controlla in 2019 on top of his forthcoming 2021 ‘OYAKUYA (EARTHQUAKE) ALBUM’ dropping before the year ends.

The New Vision would mention Gbaraspoken Emcee among Uganda’s ‘Up-Country Hip-Hop Kings.’

With the vision of ‘Rap Inspiring Generations,’ Gbaraspoken Music seeks to serve and inspire his listener through musical consciousness and edutainment. His signature ‘Nukuta Nzeza’ Hip Hop/rap music style has arguably outgrown among many followers and fans of West Nile Hip Hop/Music to be the new face and identity to West Nile Hip Hop and Rap music, thanks to the art and innovation that Gbaraspoken Emcee and other rappers in his Nukuta Nzeza Label have introduced and popularized, delivering to the world a sense of musical sensation with a unique integration of original African Cultural, Native/Indigenous styles, lyrical relevance that runs around his personal experiences, what the people around him feel, their aspirations, community empowerment among others.
